Decisions, Decisions

I’ve always been one of those people who refuses to put up any Christmas decorations, watch any Christmas movies or even do any Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving. I just always felt like Christmas season is long enough already, why bother extending the season even more?

This year, something changed.

Maybe it’s because I loved last Christmas so much. It was our first Christmas as a married couple and we started a lot of our own traditions: watching Christmas movies, picking out our own tree together, shopping for decorations, making cookies, and sending out Christmas cards.

Or maybe I’ve just become less of a Grinch these days…

Whatever the reason, I can’t WAIT to start the Christmas season this year! I’ve already started making lists of cookies I’m going to make this year, planning shopping trips and drooling over Christmas cards.

Last year Joe and I sent out cards that our wedding photographer had created for us. They were cute, but (because I’m a huge control freak!) I would have done them a little lot differently.

This year, I’m going with Shutterfly Christmas cards. I’m a huge fan of Shutterfly. We already have multiple photo books from their website that I looooove. In college I even made Joe a Shutterfly calendar out of pictures he had taken (he used to be really into photography) that he still has in our office!

I’m having a terrible time choosing a card style, though, because I love so many of them!

This one comes from the Religious cards collection. I love that it has a religious message without being too in your face about it. I think the border pattern and the sweet dove on the bottom make it so adorable!

I also really like this “Cool Christmas Tree” card:

and this “Retro Snowflake Bursts” card:

Which one do you like best?

It’s going to be a tough decision!

Heaven for a Carb Freak

A few weeks ago I was contacted by CSN about doing a product review. I was so excited by the chance to finally get the appliance I've been drooling over for months; a bread maker!

My order was placed on Sunday night and miraculously showed up at my door Tuesday morning!
I was thrilled to find it so much sooner than I'd expected! I made a quick shopping trip to pick up replenish my baking supplies and tested out my new machine on Wednesday. I decided to stick with a basic for my first try so I chose French Bread.

I measured all the ingredients into the bread maker (which took all of 3 minutes),
plugged it in, hit a few buttons and it was off.
When the baking part started a few hours later, I started drooling. The kitchen smelled soooo good! By the time it finally beeped my face was squished up against the little window on the top of the appliance and there was a puddle of drool on the counter.

I popped the bread out and it was perfection.
This picture does NOT do it justice at all! Joe and I both tried it with a little butter and we instantly went back for seconds!

I'm so happy with my new bread maker! I'm a bread fanatic and I've attempted to make bread by hand in the past and it's always a big failure. I can't wait to try out some other recipes!

Speaking of, if you have a favorite bread maker recipe or type of bread, please let me know!

It's Giveaway Time!

**THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED**
The winner will be announced tomorrow afternoon.

A few weeks ago, the fantastic folks at CSN contacted me about giving away one of their products and, of course, I jumped at the chance! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the company, CSN is this a great site that owns over 200 stores! They sell everything from kids beds to cookware to air hockey tables!

There were sooooo many options that I had a really tough time choosing one item for my giveaway.

In the end I chose a product that combines two of my favorite things (ice cream and novelty kitchen gadgets) in honor of my favorite season (summer!) being just around the corner!

This handy little ice cream maker has two compartments so you can make 2 different flavors at once! You could make rocky road in one and cookie dough in the other. Or maybe strawberry in one and peppermint bon-bon in the other. Or chocolate in one and peanut butter in the other. Or…. wait, what were we talking about?

Anyway, you just mix up your ingredients, pour them in and then toss the whole do-dad in the freezer. Then, 70-90 minutes later you have two of the best summer treats known to man.

Yum.

Interested in winning this sweet (no pun intended) gadget?

One Entry: You must be a follower of my main blog (First Yr Wife) to enter. Once you have become a follower (if you aren’t already), leave a comment telling me what your favorite flavor of ice cream is!
Two Entries (Please leave a separate comment letting me know you have done this): Blog about this giveaway and link back to me.

That’s all! Sounds pretty easy, right?
You have until midnight Thursday, April 1st to enter. The winner will be posted Friday afternoon!

Good Luck!
